Something similar for music videos?

Hi ijourneaux,

The amazingness of your trailers script, and the way it completely removes the pain and annoyances of streaming with a crappy intenet connection got me thinking.

Do you think another similar script would be possible that kept the current ,say, top 40 music videos from the US/UK charts locally downloaded at all times? I don't know what the best source for these videos would be (yahoo?), but if i could schedule something similar to the trailer downloader to keep the latest music vids on my computer that would be awesome.

I don't know if this is possible, or something you would even be interested in - but just thought I'd throw it out there just in case ;)

Cheers!

The easiest way to do this would be to locate an rss feed of videos that includes the link to the vidoe as with the HD-Trailers.net blog.

Thanks for the response. Would the rss feed available on http://www.musicvideolife.com/ do the trick?

Or the Rss feed for "new music videos" on http://www.videos-musics.com/? If it were possible to have a script that downloaded all of them, that would be really cool. Of course, don't know if you have any interest in such a thing though. :)

Hi,

You understandably probably have no interest in this, but just in case.... I've realized the easiest way to do this would probably be via youtube.

The youtube addon for XBMC would be my perfect music video solution, if weren't for the unreliability of streaming with my current connection. (The same reason I use your brilliant script for trailers instead of relying on streaming).

If I could have something similar to download the "today's hits" and/or "top music charts from youtube's official music page it would make me oh so happy! (at the moment I download them manually when I have the time.)

Thanks, and again sorry for bothering you if this is something of absolutely no interest to you!

Hi,

I looked at http://www.musicvideolife.com and http://www.videos-musics.com and they both use youtube as source of their videos.  HD-Trailers.NET Downloader support downloading videos only directly so program somehow get from feed/page URL address of video(like http://trailers.apple.com/movies/independent/weekend/weekend-tlr1_h1080p.mov ) and download it.  With youtube it is little bit problem because as i know there ist not possible to direct download videos. But there are lots of widget and programs witch allow downloading from youtube so it must work somehow.

So 2 steps are needed to allow download music videos: 1. parser for RSS/page to grab links to youtube (this is relativly easy and i can done it in few hours like i did for trailer freak ;-)  2. Make procedure for downloading videos from youtube (here i don't know how hard it is and if ijourneaux, me or someone else want to implement it)

If you find page from witch you can download videos directly is matter of hours make plugin to download them ;-)

Thanks so much for looking into this matystl.

The only non-youtube music video source I can think of is yahoo music videos, but I think they too require a little bit of magic to be downloaded. I use IDM to manually download youtube vids.

There is a RSS feed on http://www.videos-musics.com/ but I maybe that doesn't help for the actual downloading of the content/

So maybe your #2 is the only option - depending on somebody being willing / able to figure it out :)

Thanks again :)
